Timeless High Fashion Trends

The world of fashion changes every day and often it is necessary to get rid of the old to make room for the new. Many influential factors influence changes in trends and its a rare instance, especially in high fashion, when a trend can and does last forever. Timeless trends that will always be relevant in high fashion are equivalent to term diamonds in the rough.

True red comes in many not so trendy forms, but it will be a staple in high end fashion until the end of time. Why red? Its the Marilyn Monroe of colors and considered a power color with a strong sexual influence for passion. Lets look at the facts: its the color of fire, the common rose, hearts, passion, love as well as embodying many more other symbolic meanings. In China, it symbolizes beauty and celebration and it is the color brides most commonly wear on their wedding day. Did I mention that its one of the top colors chosen by men? Its true Venus will always be rising in the high fashion world.

While on the subject of power, lets add the well tailored pant suit. There are uncountable variations by numerous high fashion designers but there is one perfect fit for every woman. A good tailor is needed but not necessarily required. Women are powerful and a high end pant suit can be worn for almost any occasion with the right decorated accessories to accent. Try utilizing this trend if there is a powerful message that needs to be conveyed.

A staple piece of jewelry in high end fashion is the right hoop earrings. This accessory will never go out of style. Whether you like silver, gold, big or small, find the perfect pair that fits you. Getting a few variations is a must. Jackie O, god rest her stylish soul, received millions of dollars in diamonds and jewels from prestigious places and people, but her favorite were a pair of petite double hooped dangle earrings that she got for less than $100 and wore most of the time. She was photographed wearing them on numerous occasions. Its simply impossible to settle for just any hoop earring and there are many styles to choose from so its important to take precious time to find the perfect pair. When you do, youll be soul mates. As for me, Im going to be buried in mine.

The Clutch Purse is the queen bee of handbags. Which is very suitable considering the style was introduced to high society fashion during the Victorian Era. The fashion world had decided that the clutch was no longer in style and it diminished for decades until WWII. This was due to the shortages in materials and rationing. Since the clutch required fewer materials, it re-emerged in the fashion world. Theyre dainty and they add a feminine touch to any style for any occasion.

Thomas Burberry was the founder and creator of the first trench coat. They were designed specifically for the British Army and when the soldiers came home, they continued to wear them on the streets making them the pillar of street fashion for men. Epaulets and other accents were added and the trench coat was reborn and continued to transform for both genders. Today, almost every high end fashion designer makes a variation. This piece may be the most timeless style for both men and women today.

New ideas and new trends in fashion are an exciting expectation to look forward to. Its possible that innovative ideas can transform ones world, for the good or the bad. Since the past is all we know, that is all we can reference. But there is one thing for sure and its these high fashion trends will be around forever, unless we become machines and robots. It could happen but it sure does give a whole new meaning to the word attachment.

Inside & amp Other Stories fashions

H&M's new high-end label, & Other Stories, launches in London today with the opening of its debut store on Regent Street. Last night members of the press were given a preview tour of the two-floor space, so we have curated our highlights to give you a taste of what to expect when the shop opens its doors at 12pm today.

Simple lines and clean timeless silhouettes in an array of colours dominate the inaugural collection - think sculpted white summer dresses, floor-length maxis in vibrant teal, metallic miniskirts and knitwear in pops of neon. Accessories continue the theme of Scandinavian minimalism, with highlights including transparent brogues, black mules with chunky heels, drawstring leather duffle bags, sleek shoulder styles and satchels in brown and pink shades. The label has also collaborated with a range of designers this season, including The Lake and Stars, Clare Vivier, Abigail Lorick Im and Alyson Fox. The interior has a stripped-back appeal, exposing the building's original features. 

Beauty played a key role (unusually for a high street store), pulling together a mix of well-presented brands to offer a comprehensive selection of products.

Shoppers visiting the store today will be provided with refreshments and umbrellas as they queue outside, the chance to win a discount card valid all year and special gifts, which will be handed out all day.

Fashion Styles Jessica Chastain and Rihanna

Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Jessica Chastain and Rihanna's fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain was one of our best dressed at the Oscars and all throughout awards season, but we don't know what she was thinking with this ensemble she chose for the Givenchy show during Paris Fashion Week. The Zero Dark Thirty actress wore a menswear-inspired pair of pants and jacket from Givenchy's Pre-Fall 2013 collection.
The high-waisted trousers are super baggy on Jessica's svelte frame and could use some serious tailoring. They also feature sheer lace panel cutouts, which not only look odd but seem like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. She's made it this far without suffering any overexposures, so why chance it by wearing these cutout pants? You can see she wore shorts underneath, but having to wear both shorts and pants seems silly to us.
The final verdict? You can't win everything all the time and this certainly isn't one of our favorite looks for Jess. We like that she changed up her coif and wore it straight with a center part for a change, though!

Rihanna

Did you know that Rihanna is now a designer as well as a musician? Yep, the "Diamonds" singer has released the Rihanna for River Island Collection, a UK-based fashion line. She celebrated her designer debut during a party at DSTRKT nightclub in London wearing this getup, which gives a whole new meaning to "denim on denim."
She's wearing her own line, but why in the world would anyone rock two pairs of jeans at once?! She seems to be channeling Justin Bieber's saggy pants style with the darker pair of denim that she cuffed. Riri wore a lighter colored pair of jeans underneath and completed the look with high heeled sandals. These retail for $150, and apparently, not everyone agrees with us on these being awful, as they're sold out on the site.
The final verdict? There's really never a reason to wear two pairs of jeans, is there? We think not! Just pick one pair of pants next time, please and thanks! However, her hair and makeup are on point and the crop top shows off her killer abs.

Paris gaultier variety show presents rocker runway

PARIS - Jean Paul Gaultier served up a fun, funky patchwork of outfits for his ready-to-wear fashion show in Paris on Saturday where a heavy emphasis on leather and rocker chic added to the anything goes Bohemian style.

Gaultier is a designer with many ideas in his head. His 2013/2014 autumn/winter season fashion show was no exception, where models sporting punky mullets evoked Ziggy Stardust with long, form-fitting jackets, gold lame leather pants or 1970s-era dresses.

The show evoked a late 60s televised variety show, with a backdrop of red, black and white block screens spelling out the designer's name in big letters, and accompanied by a 80s soundtrack from the Eurythmics to David Bowie to The Clash.

"I was playing with the idea of patchwork of fabrics, and with the hair I wanted patchwork as well," Gaultier said after the show. "It gave a David Bowie, Ziggy Stardust element, but more slender, fine with a masculine element."

In rich hues of brown, bronze, aubergine and black, the patchwork idea was literal. One multi-colored dress featuring a side slit up to there was sewn together from an array of luxury fabrics, including velvet, embroidered cloth and sequins.

The idea was an extension of what Gaultier explored during his haute couture show in January where Rajasthan-inspired patchwork featured prominently.

The ready-to-wear shows largely determine what will be on department store racks and trendy boutiques the following season. In Paris, they follow on the heels of haute couture, the creme de la creme of fashion shows where only a select group of luxury names, including Gaultier, are allowed to show.

Fun and fantasy

Fashion brands are concerned over weak European economic health that has crimped spending, yet the best-known luxury houses are still protected by demand from wealthy buyers in Asia, the Middle East and Russia.

Sales in France's 11 billion euro women's ready-to-wear industry fell last year by 2.8 percent and a similar drop is expected for 2013, according to the French Fashion Institute (IFM), which would mark the sixth year in a row of lower sales.

But at Gaultier, majority-owned by Spanish family luxury group Puig, worries over the state of the economy didn't get in the way of fun and fantasy on a nippy night in Paris.

The black, red and white seen on the onstage screens made their way into fabric, which evoked stills from photoshoots.

"I went with graphic elements, like Polaroids where you see different poses, I thought make a print very figurative," Gaultier explained. "Everything is graphic, graphic - we are in a graphic era."

A silhouette of 1920s star Louise Brooks featured on the back of a black swing coat, while a flowing, see-through purple dress was paired with a structured, no-nonsense white military coat.

Leather was scrunched into oversized collars and paired with wool shrugs, a chic muumuu with one exposed shoulder made an appearance, and a shiny black dress worthy of Studio 54 featured a plunging neckline and plenty of attitude.

Gaultier, possibly influenced by the chilly temperatures enveloping Paris in recent weeks, presented various stylish looks with built-in hoods. Pulled up, they provided a cozy, warm body armour for the models.

Corsets and Bustiers

Corsets and bustiers are kinds of lingerie that are tight at the midsection. They can also create the illusion of a much smaller waist while emphasizing the bust.

Corsets look best on slender bodies. They benefit girls with straight bodies with little to no curves because they create the illusion of a smaller waist while giving the upper body a little more shape. However, girls who are very thin should stay away from corsets as they can appear too skinny when wearing these. Instead, choose other kinds of lingerie that have embellishments such as lace or beads. The design gives the illusion of a fuller body, especially if placed strategically.

Bustiers are very similar to corsets but only reach down until the ribs or waist. These are a good choice for girls with pear shaped bodies because these help keep attention away from wide hips and thighs by emphasizing the bust and midsection.



Chemises and Babydolls

Chemises and babydolls are pieces that are loose and more commonly worn as night garments. These are typically shift dresses that fall mid-thigh or above the knee.

For girls on the chubby side, loose chemises and babydolls would look best on your body. These nighties hit two birds with one stone - they emphasize your bust while hiding the midsection.














Using lingerie as outerwear

According to Solenn, even if there’s a trend of showing off undergarments, it’s important to still look classy. One way to do this is to pair dark colored corsets or bustiers with jeans or high waisted long skirts. This way, you achieve a look that’s sexy but not too revealing.

























Confidence is key

When it comes to lingerie, there’s a style that will fit any body type.  When choosing lingerie, keep in mind what features you want to emphasize.

Remember, it’s not the lingerie that makes you sexy, it’s how you wear it. As host Solenn Heussaff says, “Just remember, kahit malaman kayo, payat, maliit, o malaki, you will be sexy kapag oozing kayo with self confidence.”
